About Smallbore Rifle Shooting 

Smallbore rifle shooting is an inclusive sport enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Using .22 caliber single-shot rifles, participants shoot at targets up to 100 yards away. The sport is practiced year-round, indoors at 25 yards during winter and outdoors in summer.

Indoor shooters lie prone, using aperture sights and supporting the rifle with a jacket and sling. Matches last 12 to 22 minutes, with 10 or 20 shots fired. Benchrest shooting, where participants sit and use scoped rifles on rests, offers a less physically demanding alternative.

This sport is ideal for learning firearm safety and is popular among schools, scouts, and families. Competitions are optional and graded by skill level, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
